We gently bring to account the purchase of an eduMessenger-Package:
If your users login just using the standard loginform, set the following to "No". If you are using external auth-mechanisms set this to "Yes".
eduMessenger allows the embedded use of Etherpads. If you have an own installation you can specify the URL here:
If you want to allow people to register on your MOODLE Instance please tick the box "Allow Registration". If you do not allow this the user management has to be done on your MOODLE Instance manually. This behaviour may be best for most MOODLE Instances.
In order to make self registration work you MUST assure, that email addresses may be used as username and the auth plugin "manual" is enabled!
If you want to allow people to create their own groups on your MOODLE Instance please tick the box "Allow Group Creation". If you do not allow this all courses, forums etc. have to be created manually on your MOODLE Instance. Even if you allow people to create groups using eduMessenger you can specify a specific course category within your MOODLE Instance where those groups will reside.
If you tick "Allow Group Creation" you MUST specify a course category where created groups will reside AND a base course that will be cloned every time a group is created. This step will be done on the next page.
Create a Token for the Webservice "eduMessenger Control" related to an administrative user of your moodle instance.
The eduMessenger-Core authenticates against your MOODLE Instance using a token that is connected to administrative privileges. This Token has to be kept secret and must not be inserted anywhere but on this page! This token will NEVER be revealed to any users and it is only stored within the eduMessenger-Core!
Some tasks that the eduMessenger-Core needs to do on your MOODLE Instance need administrative privileges. For example if users are allowed to create groups or if users invite other users into groups. We want to provide an easy-to-use interface like all other messengers do. Therefore we need to reduce the complexity of all the various settings a MOODLE Instance may use.
Administrative privileges are awarded using so called "Webservices" within your MOODLE Instance. A Webservice has a definition what a user can do using the specific Webservice. By creating a token for a user in a specific Webservice an external party can act as defined by the webservice on behalf of the user just by knowing the token - NOT the username/password!
Attention: Allowing access to a webservice for an Administrator Account does not allow the webservice to act as administrator in all aspects. You will define the concrete permissions of this webservice on the next page. That way you still control what eduMessenger-Core will be capable of doing.
At first you have to create the Webservice. To do so please login as Administrator on your MOODLE Instance and navigate to "Site-Administration > Plugins > Webservices > External Services". Here you can create the Webservice and call it "eduMessenger". Check the field "Activated" as well as "Upload Files" and "Download Files".
Now create a token for this Webservice. It is advised to create a separate Administrator-Account for this purpose, but you can also use your existing Account. Navigate to "Site Administration > Plugins > Webservices > Manage Tokens" and create a Token. Select "eduMessenger" as Webservice and your chosen administrative User-Account. Please do not set an expiration as this will cause eduMessenger to stop working with your MOODLE Instance. You can revoke the token at any time you want!
Now you have another important task. Unfortunatley MOODLE Webservices do not allow to create forums automatically. Therefore we can not ensure that a newly created course meets the requirements to be used by eduMessenger (requirement is: there must be a forum of type "general forum" inside the course)
You have to create an empty course anywhere within your MOODLE Instance that is used as a model and will be cloned for new groups. Here is how to do that:
This checkbox toggles if your instance is available within the eduMessenger-App. Make your choice and you are done by ticking the "Activate" button in the lower right corner...
Your Moodle is now active within eduMessenger!
Your payment has been transferred successfully. Your contingent of users should be incremented within a few minutes.
This will be done in the background, you can safely close the browser or return to your moodle.Okay
Your payment was cancelled!Okay
